Tai Chi Classes

Join taekwondo brown belt John Jones as he leads this weekly class. Tai Chi is a collection of movements/postures, providing exercises in balance, coordination, physical control and regulation of breathing. To register, call Westview Senior Center at 482-2120, St. Sophia’s Greek Orthodox Church at

‘After Lunch Bunch’ Group Discussion
Wednesdays, 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
You are invited to join our “After Lunch Bunch” group. A variety of subjects of topical interest will be discussed including women’s issues, family dynamics, travel stories, famous celebrities, election issues, etc. If you are interested in being a facilitator on a particular subject, please contact Lynn Gross at 482-2120.
Senior Legal Services
Tuesday, Oct. 11, 9:30 a.m. to noon
Brian Levine of Legal Aid Society of Northeastern New York, Inc. will meet, via appointment, with seniors age 60 and over. He will provide confidential legal advice and services. The program is funded by the Albany County Department for Aging. Please call Westview Senior Center at 482-2120 to make your appointment.
New Sewing Class for Beginners
Thursdays, Oct. 6-27, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., continuing after lunch 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
The sewing class will be starting another four-week session to work on clothes for the fall season. The sewing department can supply fabric; however, we ask that you bring your own pattern if possible. All seniors are welcome. Instructor: seamstress Alena Taylor. Food for the Fall – Nutrition Education Program

Learn what what fruits and vegetables are in season in the fall, some cooking and storing tips, and sample and share the main ingredients to make a recipe at home. This presentation is given by Siobhan M. A’Hearn through the Capital Region EAT SMART NEW YORK PROGRAM, Cornell University Cooperative Extension.
Medicaid Community Forum

Laughter Yoga
Wednesday, Oct. 26, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Larry Steffler, BSW, CLYL, invites you to laugh your way to less stress and more joy. No previous yoga experience is needed. All fitness and mobility levels are welcome. Laughter yoga is just deep breathing, the willingness to let go, and reconnecting with our childlike nature and laughing.

Westview Senior Center will be hosting Happy Hour from 3 to 4:45 p.m. and dinners at 5 p.m. on Wednesdays, Oct. 5, 21, and 28; and Tuesday, Oct. 11 from 3 to 4:45 p.m. To make your dinner reservation, call 482-2120 by the date of each dinner by 11 a.m. The suggested contribution is $3.

Relax and enjoy a classic movie with us while you munch on soda and popcorn. Following the movie, we will have our community dinner.
Bistro Night
Tuesday, Oct. 11, from 4 to 5 p.m.
Relax and enjoy drinks and snacks during Happy Hour while you listen and dance to the best of the top 40s music from the 1960s performed by Donald Hyman. This will be followed by a delicious community dinner. There is a nominal fee of $2 for the entertainment.

Come and see a contemporary movie with us, along with snacks and soda. Following the movie, join us for dinner.
Piano Hour
