Tai Chi Classes
St. Sophia’s Greek Orthodox Church
Mondays, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m through May
Join Tae Kwon Do brown-belt, John Jones, as he leads this weekly class. Tai Chi is a collection of movements/postures, providing exercises in balance, coordination, physical control and regulation of breathing. New exercise class with Sally
Tuesdays, 10:30 a.m.
Sally Annechino will be conducting a low aerobic exercise class at Westview Senior Center on Tuesday mornings from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m., beginning May 10. This class will encourage you to stay physically active and improve your stamina, strength and balance. Sally has directed exercise programs at McAuley Assisted Living for over seven years. She is certified in personal fitness training and is currently training for additional certifications to train groups in aerobic exercise. For more information, call 482-2120.
Crochet Club
Tuesdays at 12:30 p.m.
Henrietta Bohanon and Cheryl Johnson, Westview volunteers, are the facilitators of the class. Currently, the group is working on crochet items for children. Donations of yarn in any color is always appreciated. Call 482-2120, and thank you in advance for your contributions.
Sewing Class for Beginners
Thursdays through May 26, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., continuing after lunch 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
The class is creating spring blouses. The sewing department can supply fabric; however we ask that you bring your own pattern if possible. All seniors are welcome. Instructor: seamstress Alena Taylor. Call 482-2120 to register for the class.
Laughter Yoga
Wednesday, May 25, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Larry Steffler, BSW, CLYL, invites you to laugh your way to less stress and more joy. No previous yoga experience is needed. All fitness and mobility levels are welcome. Laughter yoga is just deep breathing, the willingness to let go, and reconnecting with our childlike nature and laughing.
Spa Day
Wednesday, May 11
LaQuita Love, director of the cosmetology department of the Abrookin Career Technical Center, will bring her students to Westview so they can give free manicures and/or facials from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. and 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. In addition, the class will talk about the history of the Afro and other African-American hairstyles. All are welcome to attend this special Spa Day at Westview.
Driver Safety Program
Thursday, May 19, 9:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.
Senior Services of Albany, in conjunction with AARP, will offer the Driver Safety Program at Westview Senior Center. This course provides drivers the opportunity to save 10 percent on their car insurance. The cost is $20 for AARP members and $25 for non-members. Call 482-2120 to register for the class. In addition, participants can enjoy a community lunch for a suggested contribution of $4.35. Please make your lunch reservation no later than Wednesday, May 18, at noon.

Westview Senior Center hosts Wednesday Night Dinners every Wednesday. The following is the schedule for May:
Wednesday, May 4: dinner, 5 to 6 p.m.
Wednesday, May 11: Happy Hour, 3:30 to 4:45 p.m.; dinner, 5 to 6 p.m.; entertainment with Carla Page, who will be performing a special musical tribute in honor or Mother’s Day.
Wednesday, May 18: dinner, 5 to 6 p.m.
Wednesday, May 25: Happy Hour, 3:30 to 4:45 p.m.; dinner, 5 p.m.; bingo, 5:30 to 7 p.m., 10 cents per card and $1 for the jackpot.
