Senior Services of Albany, in partnership with the Cohoes Multi-Services Senior Citizen Center, is pleased to announce that we are the first in the area to offer an innovative new ten-week health and wellness program to residents 60 and over. The Aging Mastery Program® (AMP) was developed by the National Council on Aging (NCOA) and has been successful at helping older adults build their own playbook for aging well. Senior Services of Albany was one of four organizations in New York State selected to offer AMP.
AMP is a fun, innovative and person-centered education series that empowers participants to embrace their gift of longevity by spending more time each day doing things that are good for themselves and for others. The program encourages mastery—developing sustainable behaviors across many dimensions that lead to improved health, stronger economic security, enhanced wellbeing and increased societal participation.
This is a wonderful opportunity for older adults to participate in, and reap the benefits of, this cutting edge program. Senior Services of Albany is currently recruiting 35 adults, ages 60+ to participate in the ten-week educational program. The program will be held at the Cohoes Senior Center for 10 consecutive Tuesdays starting April 26. We will start at 5 p.m. with a healthy and delicious dinner, followed by a presentation/workshop on the following 10 topics: Navigating Longer Lives; Exercise and You; Sleep; Healthy Eating; Financial Fitness; Medication Management; Advance Planning; Healthy Relationships; Falls Prevention; and Community Engagement.
Free transportation may be available for the first 15 people to register. Each program will provide you with valuable and usable information and the opportunity to connect to others, as well as offering fun gifts and prizes.
Registration is limited, so sign up early. If you are interested in learning more about the AMP program, please call Carol at 465-3322.
Monika Boeckmann from Ask your Daughter signing off, and I hope to see you on April 26.
