COLONIE — Shaker’s Ronel Forde earned an individual title at the annual Colonie Relays track and field meet Saturday, May 7.
Forde won the boys triple jump with a distance of 44 feet, 1 inch. Guilderland’s Zaviir Berry was second with a distance of 42 feet, 9 inches, and Shaker’s Blyden Nartey took third place with a distance of 40 feet, 6.5 inches.
Forde was also second in the long jump with a leap of 20 feet, 4 inches. New Rochelle’s Keelan Thomas took first place with a distance of 20 feet, 8.5 inches.
Colonie earned a victory in the 3×100-meter shuttle hurdles relay. The Garnet Raiders finished with a time of 47.40 to nip Guilderland at the finish line.
On the girls’ side, Colonie finished first in the 1,600- and 3,200-meter relays. The 1,600-meter relay team won with a time of 4:03.95, 10 seconds ahead of runner-up Shaker, while the 3,200-meter relay team took first place with a time of 9:20.61.
Shaker earned a victory in the sprint medley relay with a time of 4:11.80, and its distance medley relay team placed second with a time of 13:11.24. Maryanna Lansing had the Blue Bison’s top individual performance with a second-place finish in the 1,500-meter run. Lansing finished with a time of 4:45.64, six seconds behind Shen’s Julia Zachgo.
