The next time I fill up my vehicle with gasoline it's going to hurt.
According to AAA, the average price of regular gasoline in the Capital District Thursday, April 24, is $3.66 — premium is $4.
For the longest time I told myself that high gases prices were the result of the devastation Hurricane Katrina caused on the New Orleans area in August 2005.
I was living in Utica at the time, and I remember scrambling to find a gas station one morning fearing that the gas stations were going to run out of gas because of the Katrina destruction.
As I pulled into the gas station, I was met with price signs stating the $1.89 gas was now $3.39.
I thought, hey, I'm OK with that because catastrophic events caused by Mother Nature can't be controlled.
It’s no longer Katrina’s fault.
Current prices are 27 cents higher than that day I pulled into the Utica gas station, and show no signs of going down.
Who can we blame now?
