From time to time you may hear a commercial disguised as a community salute to those who have gone "above and beyond" in some way. Today I heard a salute to the graduating class of 2008 from a septic company. I'm sure the septic company is great at what they do (doo) but you really have to ask your marketing rep about what community good you are lining up with for these types of messages.... and how it relates to your business. A salute to the road crews of the Capital Region for getting the job done... or a salute to our sanitation crew for keeping things clean.. those make some better sense. While I'm sure some of the essays that the graduating class of 2008 were chock full of ... I'm almost certain it doesn't make a lot of marketing sense to have a salute from a septic company...

Dan should put all his candidates in a rage simulator. That's all some poor business owner needs is his logo plastered on a car with poster child for road rage behind the wheel. Let's see... a local pizza joint promotes their free/friendly deliver... and behind the wheel is Johnny Dangerous delivering the "you're #1" finger salute...
