It’s time for New York to get serious about sex offenders.
The town of Colonie is on the right track with its task force charged with penning a local law restricting where sex offenders could live. The task force, a group of two Albany County legislators and three Town Board members, was created in response to Colonie becoming a “sex-offender dumping ground” for the county — there is an “over-concentration” of offenders, according to Town Supervisor Paula Mahan, in a few of the motels lining Central Avenue.
