I went to see Josh Groban at the Times Union Center last Saturday courtesy of my husband and his company. He was able to get three tickets for me thanks to a draw for the company box seats. I was jumping up and down with glee, transporting me back to the early 1980s when I started going to concerts. Gosh that dates me – it’s funny that younger audiences think 80s music is hip and retro now. I heard it the first time around and went to see the bands as a teenager, and not at their recent come back tours.
Okay, back to Josh Groban…it was great to be out on a Saturday night with adult company and without a pre-schooler in sight. I can’t remember the last time I went out on a Saturday night with my girlfriends. If I wasn’t one before, you call me a “Grobanite” now... CATEGORY: Development & Growth

My frustration
Picture this…I’m in a discount clothing store where the clothes are hung up on low, medium height and very high rails. I saw a couple of nice tops for my daughter on the top pole several feet above my head and far beyond my reach. I’m barely 5-foot tall if I stand up straight. With neither step stool nor assistant in sight, I resorted to jump as high as I could. Up and down I went several times trying to grab the clothes to dislodge them from the hangers. I threw my handbag at them in desperation and it hit me in the face as it came down! I was very pink and flushed with my exertions. Three people walked right by me, oblivious to the mad woman on the invisible pogo stick... CATEGORY: Commentary & Debate

Coffee MatesSUSAN S. CHEUNG (known to many as Shifay--Chinese middle name.) Welcome to my world. I'm a resident from across the pond who lives in the Capital District. For 13 years, I was all about my career and being successful. Becoming a mother twice in my mid- to late-30s made me take stock.
