can someone please explain football to me?

It just doesn't make sense.

Mainly, what I don't understand is, why, if you like a team, do you have to HATE another team? You don't hate all teams, but you usually hate just one. It's not that you don't like them because of the colors they wear, or because they're doing terribly. You, at least some of you, hate a team because they are doing well.

I don't have any long drawn out analysis on this one...

Things I love to hate

I have to admit, I'm still a little starstruck from meeting Andy Rooney on Friday when he came to speak during the Albany Academy alumni lecture series. For days now I've been reading segments of one of his books, "Out of my Mind," which is basically a compilation of essays ranging in topics from politics to personal anecdotes.

One essay which I seem to keep re-reading is entitled "Things I Love to Hate." He lists things that drive him absolutely bonkers, several of which drive me absolutely bonkers as well. So, I thought it might be fun to write up a list of things that I love to hate...
