My friend Brittany claims to be a nacho-connoisseur. She goes around to different restaurants with her friend, Melinda, both fancy and fast food, and rates the nachos a few bites later. While I have never worked up the ability to be a connoisseur of a food, I will label myself a connoisseur of one thing.

Last night's nearly five hour Town Board Meeting was filled with emotion, anger and even one unusual racial slur. It began with the 22-item agenda, which contained no controversial issues it seemed, as every resolution was passed without discussion (to view last night's agenda, go to http://www.colonie.org/townboardagenda/tbagenda.htm). Followed by a public hearing which would amend a local law in regards to "No Parking Anytime" signs, so that they could be placed in certain areas in the Town where tow trucks need cars not to be... Sure, they make calls, write releases, greet the public, drive their boss around and schedule appointments.
They get nice offices, fancy titles (which most commonly do not include the word "secretary" ... something like Executive Spokesperson, or Executive Director), and perpetually look, and act busy. A little late, but you know what they say about the late bird. Oh, you don't? Me either.
Last night's TB meeting was the shortest in a while, but still ended after 9 o'clock. In the pre-meeting agenda review session, board members were presented with plans by Siena College's Director of Facilities Don Delmanzo to build a loop-road which would connect the college's townhouses to the gymnasium so that students would not have to use town roads to get from one to the other. Delmanzo told board members, and the supervisor, that this plan had been discussed with the previous administration, but that they had told Siena to wait and see what happens with the election this past January. The election came and went, and still, not yet at least, no road... CATEGORY: General Society
