For the first time in a while, I think I can say I am proud of my work this week. Somewhere in between the graduations and Town Board meeting, I found the time to write a 2,000 word story about the reinstatement of an administrator in the North Colonie Central School District. But as proud as I am, and pleased at how it turned out, I don't think I can take credit for all the work.
This week, I had an overwhelming amount of support from anonymous sources. I believe, recently, I blogged about how annoying it is when people are uneasy to give me their names--but as of today, I retract that statement. You are not annoying, anonymous... CATEGORY: General Society

Do you love your pet? I hope so. But how much. I know I love my little dog so much I paid an arm and a leg to own her, and dress her up in a new pretty collar every month. But that's not that special.
I'm looking for people who go far and wide for their animals. People who see no restrictions when it comes to Fifi. If you have an extra room in your home, a seperate couch, or even an elaborate dog house for your pet, I would LOVE to hear about it... CATEGORY: General Society

Truth. What is it? Who determines what is true and what is not? Is there a truth police officer?
These questions may seem a little silly, but I have been thinking about truth a lot lately. In, fact, it follows me everywhere I go--even in the bathroom. Setting up my new apartment, I decided to put a small book called "The Art of Civilized Conversation" in our bathroom (which my roommate objects to being there, but will not let me now remove the book from the bathroom and place it in the kitchen or book shelf because she said that is "disgusting")... A good friend of mine died yesterday. Not the typical friend one would imagine a 22-year-old having, but a good, solid, dependable, trustworthy, honest, wise, and compassionate friend. In fact, the type of friend everyone dreams of having.
James Duke might have even hit the hearts of many of you from the Capital District who read our blog. During countless discussions before my move to Albany, Mr. Duke told me of the fun he would have as a student at RPI, and how he met his wife, Bobbie, and would take her out with him, causing mischief by the Port of Albany. Later on in life, he caused mischief at Cedar Crest Village, a retirement community in New Jersey, where I met, and came to love, Mr. Duke... CATEGORY: General Society

"Officials from the Capital District Transportation Authority met with several members of staffing agencies for nurses last Wednesday, July 16, to discuss ways to better provide transportation to nurses who are currently arriving late to their shifts due to the late arrival times of buses. In an effort to keep you informed, and hopefully get more readers to my blog, I've decided to post a synopsis of a few key events that make up the Colonie Town Board meetings
So, here it goes: -Two public hearings were held: one to adopt or reject the Town's annual plan for Section 8 housing and one to adopt or reject a proposal for a senior planned development district on Delatour Road (more on that later.) Both were adopted. -For the second Town Board meeting in a row, over two dozen EMS respondents crowded the back of the Town Board meeting room at Memorial Hall to discuss the Supervisor's executed termination of the Lifeguard Program, a program that has EMS respondents go on flight rescue missions with state police... Day one (because the day you first put the blades for the first time since childhood doesn't count). Day one went pretty well.
Why don't I start with a little bit of background. When I want something, I need to have it. I know that sounds a little bratty, but when I say "I need to have it," it means I won't be able to sleep at night without it. This held true about my dog, Izzy. For a year, I dreamt of having a puggle-and now I have one. But before the puggle, I had a much bigger dream. Rollerblades.
