Local Updates (24/7) Schenectady County 2010 budget passes with 2.13% tax cut Posted on: 09/24/09 Written by: Spotlight Newsroom, Staff email: news@spotlightnews.com On Wednesday, Sept. 23, the Schenectady County Legislature voted unanimously (14 – 0 with 1 absent) to approve the 2010 county budget that includes a 2.13% tax cut and 3.95% reduction in the County’s full value tax rate, the lowest tax rate in more than 50 years. “The current economic and financial climate has been difficult on all of our County residents,” said Schenectady County Legislature Chair Susan Savage, D-Niskayuna, in a written statement. “I am pleased to announce that our efforts have resulted in a budget that delivers a 2.13% tax cut, the largest tax cut in at least 20 years and the third tax cut in the past five years,” said Savage.
