Local Updates (24/7) Bethlehem: Investigation into chief's alleged racist remarks complete Posted on: 09/17/09 Written by: Spotlight Newsroom, Staff email: news@spotlightnews.com Officials in the Town of Bethlehem announced today that an investigation into alleged racist remarks made by Police Chief Louis Corsi has been completed. The Town Board will meet in executive session at 8:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 18, to discuss the matter. The result of the investigation was not immediately apparent. In May, Officer Chris Hughes alleged that Corsi had used a racial slur during a phone conversation that occurred more than two years ago. In an investigation headed by Deputy Police Chief Timothy Beebe, the town has been poring through 51 CDs of audiotape in an attempt to locate the alleged remark. Town officials, including Town Attorney James Potter, have stayed largely hush on the investigation, citing it as a personnel matter. Hughes has been out on sick leave from the department and was served two 30-day suspensions in May on two charges that he refutes and has filed grievances on.
